Former finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looks to reach the round of 16 in Australia, as he squares off against Portugal’s Frederico Gil on Saturday. The Frenchman is joined by fellow seed Kei Nishikori, who faces Julien Benneteau.

Sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leads third-round opponent Frederico Gil 2-0 in the series. The players are meeting for the first time since 2010.
Tsonga advanced to the round of 32 after taking out Ricardo Mello in straight sets. The Frenchman tallied 54 winners and 15 aces, through to a 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 success. He is bidding for his fourth round of 16 berth in Melbourne.
Gil upset 26th seed Marcel Granollers in the second round, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The 26-year-old will attempt to make his first round of 16 at the event.
Prediction: Tsonga in straight sets.
(24) Kei Nishikori vs. Julien Benneteau
World No. 26 Kei Nishikori trails Julien Benneteau 1-0 in the series, having lost their only previous meeting in 2007.
Nishikori survived a difficult second round, where he rallied from two sets down to defeat Matthew Ebden. After falling behind 6-3, 6-1, the 24th seed came back to close in five, 3-6, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. The 22-year-old looks to reach his first round of 16 in Melbourne.
Benneteau ousted fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second round. The veteran remains on course to book his first round of 16 berth in Melbourne.
Prediction: Nishikori in four sets.
