World No. 4 Andy Murray will continue his run at the Australian Open, as he faces veteran Michael Llodra in the round of 32. The players are set to contest their third meeting Saturday evening.
Fourth seed Andy Murray holds a 2-0 series advantage over Michael Llodra. The two are meeting for the first time since the 2008 US Open.
Murray advanced to the third round by virtue of his straight-set ousting of Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The 24-year-old is bidding for his eighth consecutive victory in 2012.
Llodra passed into the round of 32 following his five-set win against 32nd seed Alex Bogomolov Jr. The Frenchman will attempt to make his first round of 16 in Melbourne.
Prediction: Murray in straight sets.

alex , 1/21/12 7:21 AM
Uh-oh, just saw the nole score - another bagel an 2 breadsticks :-( looking pretty ominous, no?
alex , 1/21/12 7:24 AM
ouch, just saw tsonga's score too. muzz's potential opponent all firing big guns, it looks. all the more reason for muzz to start moving up the gears today ...
come on, uzz, 3 tidy sets please.
alex , 1/21/12 7:35 AM
on the other hand, mofils a set and 2 break down against babooshka. wonder what's happening there ...
alex , 1/21/12 7:39 AM
Just seen that Monfils score too and off to watch the match. What's going on? Catch you later. Think Andy's on at 8am?
deuce , 1/21/12 7:45 AM
8am?! and the court lying empty. and me getting up at crack of dawn :(
monfils been having trainer on, something not right.
alex , 1/21/12 7:49 AM
babooshka can't finish him off, no class or composure. whose gonna win it - an injured monfils or and inept babooshka? r16 looking good for muzz if he doesn't blow it against llodra.
alex , 1/21/12 8:13 AM
Bad day at the office for the lovely Gael. As you say alex must be injured- he is slow!.....:(
deuce , 1/21/12 8:21 AM
Monfils was injured. Espn2 switched to the match when he was down two sets and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me with that score. But then the commentators said that he hurt his back, I think. He had already received treatment from the trainer.
This has been such a huge problem for Monfils. He cannot remain free of injuries.
Too bad.
Nativenewyorker , 1/21/12 9:47 AM
I stopped watching tennis on tv and now I see that Monfils has come back. When I was watching he was on serve in the third set and I didn't think he would make it through the match.
I guess he is feeling a lot better now. That's good news. I hope they show some of the match, but now they have Murray and Llodra.
Nativenewyorker , 1/21/12 9:58 AM
Really nice match. Lots of gr8 shots/rallies. first set Andy :) Come on :)
NNY now level last set. Bit of a recovery :)
deuce , 1/21/12 9:59 AM
muzz saved 5 break points there and was SO well behaved in the process. no tantrums, but put the aggression into the tennis with aces and serve and volleys.
llodra playing really well but muzz pretty composed out there to win first set. great quality and all muzz's energy going into tennis.
alex , 1/21/12 9:59 AM
Awesome, alex :)
deuce , 1/21/12 10:12 AM
Wot a match. These two are dying a death out there, but I think Murray will be victorious, the ball is in his court.
nadline , 1/21/12 10:37 AM
i've justwatched the most amazing game of tennis i've ever seen, for muzz to take set 2 ! oh, deuce!
alex , 1/21/12 10:37 AM
Oh what a fabulous match :) Stolle commenting says Andy's playing the best he's seen for a" couple of years." Full of praise for the "Ivan effect"- no grumbling, grouching, yelling at the box, tugging at body parts etc. Playing calm focused tennis. Gr8
deuce , 1/21/12 10:40 AM
hey naline - isn't it gr8 you gonna get to shout for muzz at olympics ? ;)
alex , 1/21/12 10:43 AM
^^^ You bet!
nadline , 1/21/12 10:51 AM
if muzz doesn't take kushkin in 3 i'll be surprised, even if he doesn't play his best
alex , 1/21/12 10:57 AM
Murray is complety dismantling Llodra's game! Good game from his side... Llodra stopped fighting in the third. Llodra is playing with the crowd a little bit, fun to watch. Lendl doesn't have time to add to Andy's game tenniswise, but his behaviour is better on court. More positive...
Bonker , 1/21/12 10:59 AM
A very entertaining match, one consolation for Llodra is that he gave it all he got which.
Well Done Andy.
nadline , 1/21/12 11:00 AM
Sorry, I was going to say which is more than can be said for Monfils against Kuks.
nadline , 1/21/12 11:02 AM
Nole will hae his hands full in the SF.
nadline , 1/21/12 11:03 AM
Funny interview btw with Andy! Very funny stuff....
Bonker , 1/21/12 11:04 AM
Serve and volley is so yesterday. Llodra is playing the wrong style for the 21st century.
nadline , 1/21/12 11:09 AM
Yay! Andy gets baking! Come on! Such a fabulous controlled performance. Oh YES!!
deuce , 1/21/12 11:09 AM
Didn't get to watch the match, congrats to Andy and his fans for the win.
S & V is so yesterday because of the slowing down of the surfaces. If you'd watched Llodra at the Paris Masters 2010 where the court surface was a fast one, you would notice how beautfiul and effective his game was on that kind of surface. He also won some indoor hardcourt titles with his kind of game. Too bad for Llodra, he's born some ten years late. I love his game!
luckystar , 1/21/12 11:51 AM
lucky, one of the nice things about this match, for Murray fans, was that Andy was also serve and volleying and is he good at it? Is he heck! Also coming forwards much more than he has in the past. Good to see :)
deuce , 1/21/12 12:42 PM
Ok deuce, nice to hear that. Andy always has the varieties in his game, that IMO not even the top three can match; still love Rafa and his game though, for he's so unorthodox and plays with so much heart.
luckystar , 1/21/12 12:56 PM
All the tennis cognoscenti have Nole as a shoe-in for the final............they either do not think Muzza will progress to the semis or that if he does, Nole will brush him aside...........
Why do I think this is a tard.....wrong? Am I the only one who thinks Muzza has the game to trouble Nole? Okay maybe he gets ambushed on the way, stuff happens, but do not dismiss him juts like that, methinks.........
Discuss.
rafaisthebest , 1/21/12 4:22 PM
Totally agree with you RITB. Nole is cruising with the wind in his sails at the moment, whilst Muz has had to battle against the wind because he hasn't had any gimmes, so by the time he gets to the SF he will be more battle ready than Nole.
Mahut was ill and considered defaulting but carried on because of the spectators, so we can't taken that particular outcome too seriously.
nadline , 1/21/12 5:02 PM
Djokovic had it easy so far because he made it look easy, he's that damn good. Not because he had easy opponents.
Murray can trouble Nole, can take a set or 2, but Djokovic is a ranked #1 for a reason. I don't think anyone expects Djokovic to walkover Murray though.
nemanja230690 , 1/21/12 7:28 PM
Nadline, what Djokovic win CAN we take seriously? He's doing what he's supposed to do, crushing players that are, with all due respect, a few classes below him. And to say he won't be battle ready is ridiclous. Spending less time as possible in the early rounds against far imperior players is the goal for Rafa, Nole, Federer.... Djokovic will be "battle ready'', he always is.
nemanja230690 , 1/21/12 7:36 PM
I'm not taking anything away from Nole, I'm not saying he won't be able to beat Muzz simple because he hasn't had any real contests, all I'm saying is that Muzz has had to overcome more competition so far, so he will be ready to fight his corner if need be better than Nole who really has cruised so far, whether he made it look easy or not he hasn't been put through his paces, maybe he doesn't need to, who knows.
I've seen Federer breeze through 6 rounds at slams whilst Rafa is digging his way through, only for Federer to fall to Nadal because Nadal had had more real contest. Maybe Nole could just turn up at the finals and win, not many people can do that.
nadline , 1/21/12 8:27 PM
nemanja230690, when I saw your moniker I thought you were a troll, I wasn't even going to bother clicking on the thread.
