  • Murray continues bid on Thursday

    1/18/12 8:15 PM | Kelli DeMario
Murray continues bid on Thursday World No. 4 Andy Murray is set to highlight Thursday play at the Australian Open, as he squares off against Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France. The Scot looks to reach the third round at the tournament.

Fourth seed Andy Murray overcame a slow start during his opening-round clash with American Ryan Harrison. The 24-year-old lost the first set, then recovered to close the match in four, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

He is bidding for his fourth consecutive third-round berth at the Australian Open.

Roger-Vasselin was given passage into round two, following the retirement of veteran Xavier Malisse. The Frenchman will attempt to make his first third round in Australia.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.

Murray leads 2 sets to love: 61 64.

Will Roger-Vasseline come back from 2 sets down? Lol

Good job Murray, who's his next opponent? It seems all the top four guys not having much problems in the early rounds. Ferrer taken to five sets today. Seems that from the no.5 guy downwards, they all faced some problems here and there. Tipsy has to win in four sets over a young Australian player. Let's see how Monfils fare later today.

Ahem..quick enough for you alex....nice to see Andy got a nice easy SECOND round..;)
lucky, the French legionnaires occupy Andy's draw and it's Llodra next!

Oh dear poor Llodra. I like Llodra but I don't think he can get pass Murray. So Murray has all French players along his path, starting with this guy today, followed by Llodra, and maybe Monfils and then maybe Tsonga? Wow, poor French!

Glad u c it like that lucky :) I think Tsonga's dangerous, depends how much gas he's got left.

Didn't Tsonga beat Murray here in 2008? Left some of the British Eurosporters shellshocked; but I don't really see a repeat.

deuce - yep, I'll accept that one :)

Here's hoping muzz remains the scourge of the French. Apart from Tsonga in 2008, I can't remember ... no, STOP Alex, you'll jinx him.
