Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick will meet for the 14th time under the lights on Rod Laver arena.
American Andy Roddick and Aussie Lleyton Hewitt met for the first time back in 2001 when both men were still youngsters. Since that time they've met 12 other times. Roddick has the slight head-to-head edge at 7-6. The statistic is misleading, however, as Hewitt won almost all of their early encounters and Roddick winning the last six.
Hewitt has been battling a toe injury over the past year and only just now seems healthy. The Aussie’s ranking has fallen to 181st in the world.
Roddick is no longer the top-ranked American. That honor goes to Mardy Fish, who was knocked out of Melbourne on Wednesday by Alejandro Falla. Roddick is still inside the top 20 with a solid No. 16 ranking. The American had a good showing at the US Open, advancing to the quarterfinals where he lost to Rafael Nadal.
Roddick looked good in his first match against a potentially difficult Robin Haase of the Netherlands. Expect him to disappoint the Aussie fans with a straight-set win over Hewitt.

Tough luck for Roddick, but credit to Hewitt for slugging it out; you have to wonder whether he can outsmart Raonic though - doesn't seem likely.

That's a shame for Andy ... and Serena.
