    (1) Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Marcos Baghdatis

Top seed Juan Martin Del Potro will attempt to break a 1-1 series tie with Marcos Baghdatis on Thursday. The players last met at the 2011 Australian Open, where the Cypriot won a second-round match in four sets.

Del Potro commenced his Sydney run with a routine victory over Lukasz Kubot, 6-4, 6-2. The 23-year-old Argentine is bidding for his first semifinal at the tournament.

Baghdatis survived a three-set match against Matthew Ebden in the round of 16, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(3). The 26-year-old will be making his second consecutive quarterfinal appearance in 2012.

    (3) Richard Gasquet vs. Denis Istomin

Third seed Richard Gasquet holds a 2-0 series edge against Denis Istomin, entering into the quarterfinals. Thursday signals their second hard-court meeting.

Gasquet started the week with a straight-set defeat of Fabio Fognini. The world No. 18 secured four of eight break-point chances during the 6-2, 6-1 success. He looks to reach his fourth semifinal in Sydney.

Istomin took out lucky loser Ryan Sweeting in the round of 16, 6-2, 6-1. The 25-year-old is through to his second straight quarterfinal after making the last eight in Brisbane.

Nice match between Delpo and Baggy. Baggy really can go toe to toe with Delpo. He wins the first set and is now one break up in the second set. Both striking the ball well but Baggy moves better than Delpo, I think he'll win this match.

wow, what a match from Baggy...aggressive and brave Baggy always causes trouble but this performance was outstanding...I haven't seen him play this well since that match with Rafa in Cincy 2010...Delpo looked a bit inert out there but he sure will be offering much more once he hits the AO courts...anyway, great win for Baggy...he may win this tourney after all...
