Defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka looks to reach the final four in Chennai, as he takes to the court against Go Soeda on Friday. Fellow seed Milos Raonic will begin the day’s quarterfinal action against Dudi Sela.
(3) Stanislas Wawrinka vs. (Q) Go Soeda
Third seed Stanislas Wawrinka will attempt to regroup after a difficult opening round against France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The Swiss dropped the first set before sealing the match in three, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
He is bidding for his third consecutive semifinal berth at the tournament.
Qualifier Go Soeda upset fifth seed Ivan Dodig in the second round, 7-6(6), 6-3. The 27-year-old remains on course to win his 25th career match at tour level.
(4) Milos Raonic vs. Dudi Sela
World No. 31 Milos Raonic came through the second round with a straight-set victory over veteran Victor Hanescu. The 21-year-old needed just 74 minutes to secure the win, 6-1, 6-4.
Raonic looks to reach his first semifinal since last October, when he made the final four in Stockholm.
World No. 83 Dudi Sela defeated France’s Benoit Paire in the second round, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The 26-year-old is bidding for his second semifinal in Chennai.
