  • Federer, Monfils in action at Qatar ExxonMobil Open

    1/3/12 10:14 PM | Ricky Dimon
Federer, Monfils in action at Qatar ExxonMobil Open Roger Federer looks for a place in the Doha second round and he goes up against Grega Zemlja on Wednesday. Gael Monfils is also in action, facing Benjamin Becker.

    (Q) Grega Zemlja vs. (2) Roger Federer

Federer won his last three tournaments of 2011 and he looked like he had not missed a beat as he annihilated Nikolay Davydenko 6-2, 6-2 in round one of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open on Tuesday. The third-ranked Swiss, who prevailed last fall in Basel, Paris, and at the World Tour Finals, appears to be in fine shape after going 0-2 last week at the Abu Dhabi exhibition (with losses to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal).

Federer's draw has opened up a bit following a tough first-round matchup with Davydenko. Zemlja, whom the second seed has never faced, went a mere 2-6 at the ATP level last year and he registers at No. 116 in the world. However, the Slovenian qualified for the Doha main draw then ousted wild card Sergei Bubka 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 on Tuesday. Count on Zemlja's run ending at Federer's hands in straight sets.

    (4) Gael Monfils vs. Benjamin Becker

Monfils and Becker will be going head-to-head for the third time in their careers when they clash in second-round action on Wednesday. Both of their previous encounters came in the fall of 2010, with Monfils prevailing 6-1, 7-5 in Shanghai and 7-6(4), 6-4 in Paris.

Becker will be hard-pressed to turn the tide in this one. The 304th-ranked German suffered through an injury-plagued 2011 campaign in which he won just three ATP-level matches. However, he began this year with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Igor Kunitsyn on Monday. Monfils opened with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the expense of Rui Machado. The fourth-seeded Frenchman is in fine form and should get the job done in straights.

Seriously what's up with people that work for the ATP.
"http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2012/01/1/Doha-Wednesda y-Tsonga-Nadal-Federer-In-Action.aspx"

In the news section what do I read "Tsonga to meet Troicki in Doha quarterfinals".

Troicki is in the opposite half of the draw!!!
