(3) Stanislas Wawrinka vs. (LL) Edouard Roger-Vasselin
World No. 17 Stanislas Wawrinka leads Edouard Roger-Vasselin 1-0 in the series, having won their only previous meeting on the Challenger Tour.
Wawrinka enters into his title defense with a 2011 season record of 35-20. He captured the Chennai crown with a three-set victory over Belgium's Xavier Malisse.
Roger-Vasselin will be looking to win his first tour-level match since late August 2011, when he made the round of 32 in Winston-Salem.
(4) Milos Raonic vs. Victor Hanescu
Fourth seed Milos Raonic trails second-round opponent Victor Hanescu 1-0 in the head-to-head series. The players last met at the Masters 1000 Canada, where the veteran scored a straight-set win in the round of 64.
Raonic will attempt to regroup after a serious hip injury kept him away from action last summer. He enters into his first main draw in Chennai ranked world No. 31.
Hanescu earned a first-round victory over Sam Querrey in straight sets. The 30-year-old Romanian secured three of 4 break points en route to a 6-3, 6-4 success.
