Janko Tipsarevic and Tomas Berdych will battle in the Paris third round as the entire field takes the court on Thursday.
Tomas Berdych has an additional motivation for winning his third round match against Janko Tipsarevic. If he moves into the quarterfinals, he will grab one of the 3 remaining World Tour Final spots, which go to the top 8 players at the end of the regular season.
The problem for the Czech is that he hasn’t ever managed to defeat Tipsarevic. The Serb holds a 4-0 record over Berdych. But perhaps more alarming for Berdych’s year-end hopes is the fact that Tipsarevic has beaten him twice on hard courts this summer.
Berdych’s results this fall have been a mixed bag, with a win Beijing along with a first round ouster in Basel last week. Tipsarevic has had similar results, with a win in Moscow, the finals in St. Petersburg and a first round loss in Basel.
Prediction – Berdych to pull out his first win against the Serb in 3.

Berdych has beaten tipsarevic. This means that himself, Tsonga and Fish have all qualified for London. So the field is set!
