Fourth seed David Ferrer holds a 3-1 series advantage over 14th Alexandr Dolgopolov entering into the round of 16. The Spaniard leads 2-0 on hard-court.
Ferrer kicked off his Paris bid with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over French qualifier Nicolas Mahut. He is bidding for his fourth consecutive hard-court quarterfinal following successful runs in Tokyo, Shanghai and Valencia.
Dolgopolov dismissed qualifier Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round, 6-3, 7-6(6). The 23-year-old Ukrainian looks to make his 10th quarterfinal of the season.
Prediction: Ferrer in three sets.
