(4) Marin Cilic vs. (Q) Sergei Bubka
World No. 22 Maric Cilic makes his return to action following a first-round loss to Albert Ramos in Shanghai. The former St. Petersburg finalist is 38-20 for the season, aided by a recent runner-up finish in Beijing. Tuesday marks his fourth appearance at the tournament.
World No. 154 Sergei Bubka will be playing his first tour-level match since the US Open. The 24-year-old is set to make his St. Petersburg debut, after three unsuccessful attempts to pass through qualifying rounds.
(7) Alex Bogomolov vs. Igor Kunitsyn
Seventh seed Alex Bogomolov trails first-round opponent Igor Kunitsyn 1-0 in the head-to-head series. The players last met earlier this season in London, where the Russian scored a victory via retirement.
Bogomolov is 22-18 for the year, having made the quarterfinal in Moscow last week. The American, ranked world No. 36, looks to win his first match at the St. Petersburg Open on Tuesday.
The 65th-ranked Kunitsyn is a modest 16-18 in 2011. The Russian veteran has reached the St. Petersburg semifinals in 2006 and 2009.
