    Murray closing in on Shanghai semifinal Defending champion Andy Murray will complete quarterfinal-round action at the Shanghai Rolex Masters, as he takes to the court against qualifier Matthew Ebden. The Scot looks to continue his bid for a third straight title.

    World No. 4 Andy Murray advanced to the quarterfinals by virtue of his three-set victory against 13th seed Stanislas Wawrinka. The 24-year-old dropped the second 6-3 then recovered to take a 5-0 advantage in the decider.

    Murray remains on track to reach his 11th ATP World Tour semifinal of the season.

    World No. 124 Matthew Ebden upset 8th seed Gilles Simon in the round of 16, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(8). The 23-year-old Australian will be making his third appearance in a tour-level quarter this year.

    Prediction: Murray in straight sets.

It was closer than it appears, nothing unbelievable from either.
Muzzy was a bit nervous & ebden rushed him at the net,
But got into the swing of things in the 2nd.
He's playing well enough to win this thing I suppose.

Cheers :) Ah, that Murray fan hastily qualifying statement. Will we ever bathe in a rosy glow of total belief? Probably not and probably very boring if we did. However, would be nice to be bored once or twice b4 the end of his career.......
Nishikori put out Andy at 2008 Olympics, so no chickens can be counted yet...

Deuce it was Lu Yen-hsun that beat Andy in the Olympics.
He's never played Nishikori before.

You wouldn't catch nadline slipping up like that. She would have been able to quote the score from memory too!!!!

Andy didn't cover himself in glory at the Olympics at all. He complained about jet lag and the climate but later admitted it was his own fault for not preparing properly. I also recall he and Jamie were at loggerheads too.
