World No. 18 Alexandr Dolgopolov has already surpassed his best ever Masters result with this trip into the quarterfinals. He will look for a semifinal berth against Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
The Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov came out of nowhere at this year’s Australian Open, where he had his first big breakthrough. Not only did the youngster make the quarterfinals, but he defeated both Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Robin Soderling (ranked No. 4) en route.
Since then, Dolgopolov has had inconsistent results, often going late in one tournament and losing early in the next. But he’s been good enough that his ranking currently sits at No. 18 in the world.
Kei Nishikori is only just now climbing his way up the rankings. The Japanese man started to come on in Kuala Lumpur, where he made the semis, but a quarterfinal showing at a Masters event is by far his best result of the year so far.
Prediction – Nishikori will have the crowd support, but Dolgopolov has the bigger weapons of the two men. Dolgopolov in 3.

Very ... tidy match from Nishikori. Dolgopolov ... not so much.
