American Andy Roddick will take on Bulgarian youngster Grigor Dimitrov as the Shanghai Masters eases into the second round on Tuesday.
Struggling American Andy Roddick got into the second round, but he played an error-strewn match against Yen-Hsun Lu to get there. Roddick’s serve, usually his ace in the hole, has not been the weapon of late that it once was.
Grigor Dimitrov is ranked 72nd in the world. He lost in the first round in Beijing to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, but he made the Frenchman work hard for the win.
Roddick has far more experience than Dimitrov does and the Bulgarian has had quite a few first-round losses of late, including an ouster at the hands of Gael Monfils at the US Open. Still, Dimitrov will have chances at the upset here if Roddick’s serving doesn’t improve.
Prediction – Despite some shaky form, the American should still have enough to get the win.
