• Roddick looks to make amends in Shanghai

    10/9/11 11:31 PM | Cheryl Murray
Roddick looks to make amends in Shanghai Andy Roddick will try to make up for his first round loss at the China Open; he’ll take the court at the Shanghai Masters against Yen-Hsun Lu.

American Andy Roddick has had an up and down summer hard court season. The current world No. 15 followed a disappointing first round loss with a semifinal showing in Winston-Salem. Roddick played well at the US Open, where he reached the quarters, but he was knocked out in the first round in Beijing last week.

Roddick owns a 3-1 head-to-head record over Taiwanese opponent Yen-Hsun Lu, but the American lost the most recent (and most important) encounter at Wimbledon last year.

Lu will certainly have the full support of the Chinese crowd, but Lu’s form has been spotty enough of late that he failed to qualify in Tokyo last week.

Roddick didn’t play well in Beijing, but a good serving day will completely turn around the American’s fortunes. Roddick for the win in 3.
