Fellow countrymen Marin Cilic and Ivan Ljubicic are set to go head-to-head for a place in the Beijing final. The winner will move on to face either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Tomas Berdych for the championship title.
Ivan Ljubicic holds a 2-0 series edge against fellow Croatian Marin Cilic. The players last took to the court this summer at Wimbledon, where the veteran scored a four-set victory.
Ljubicic advanced to the final four after taking out Russian Mikhail Youzhny in three sets. The 32-year-old has collected 44 aces entering into the semifinal. He remains on track to reach his second championship final of the season.
Cilic booked a semifinal berth by virtue of his three-set success against Kevin Anderson. The 23-year-old is bidding for his third final of the year, having made the same stage in Umag and Marseille.
Prediction: Ljubicic in three sets.

I know they are all tall men but Cilic looks so frail against either of the other two. It always amazes me how much power he can generate. A bit like Simon.

Cilic has very good movement for a tall guy. He has the best movement among the giants, guys like Anderson, Berdych, Delpo, Karlovic, Isner. He also has some good net game, compared to guys like Anderson, Sod, Delpo. If the future for tennis rest on these tall guys, then I'll choose Cilic over the rest, as his game is more complete than the other giants'. Most of the other giants just hit big bombs and big forehands and camped at the baseline with these one two finish.
PS. I also like Tomic who happens to be tall too. He plays like Murray but a bit more aggressive IMO.

Yes, Cilic wins and into another final this year. Well done Marin! Hopefully he can win the title this time, though Tsonga or Berdych is no easy opponent.
