Sixth seed Andy Roddick leads opponent Kevin Anderson 2-0 in the series, having recorded two victories in 2011.
The 2008 China Open champion makes his return to competition following a quarterfinal finish at the US Open. The 29-year-old has compiled a 28-12 season record, with help from a title-winning effort in Memphis.
Anderson is 33-21 entering into the tournament. The 25-year-old South African will be making his China Open debut Monday night.

World No. 22 Florian Mayer holds a 2-0 series edge against qualifier Albert Ramos.
The German heads into the China Open with momentum, having captured his first ATP World Tour title in Bucharest. The 27-year-old will be looking to win his first match at the tournament on Monday.
Ramos will attempt to regroup after suffering a second-round loss to fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in Kuala Lumpur. The 23-year-old is bidding for his 13th tour-level victory of the season.
