(1) Juan Ignacio Chela vs. (4) Pablo Andujar
Top seed Juan Ignacio Chela holds a 3-0 series edge against fourth seed Pablo Andujar. The players last met in the 2010 Bucharest final, where the Argentine scored a championship victory in straight sets.
Chela advanced to the final four on Friday, following his straight-set ousting of 7th seed Andreas Seppi. The 32-year-old veteran is bidding for his 13th ATP World Tour final.
Andujar defeated qualifier Alessandro Giannessi in the quarterfinal, 6-3, 6-4. The 25-year-old Spaniard looks to make his third clay-court final this season, after completing successful runs in Stuttgart and Casablanca.
(2) Florian Mayer vs. Filippo Volandri
Second seed Florian Mayer leads opponent Filippo Volandri 1-0 in the series, having won their only meeting on clay in 2005.
Mayer secured a semifinal spot by virtue of his routine win over Albert Ramos, 6-1, 6-2. The 27-year-old German will attempt to make his fifth career final on Saturday.
Volandri earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Brazilian Joao Souza in the semifinal. The Italian veteran remains on course to make his first tour-level final since 2006.
