Defending champion Juan Ignacio Chela will attempt to reach the final four late Friday, as he squares off against fellow seed Andreas Seppi. Second seed Florian Mayer is also in quarterfinal action, set to meet Albert Ramos of Spain.

Top seed Juan Ignacio Chela trails 7th seed Andreas Seppi 1-2 in the series. Friday signals their second meeting on clay.
Chela started his title defense with a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing of veteran qualifier Florent Serra. The 32-year-old Argentine is bidding for his fourth clay-court semifinal this season.
Seppi defeated Igor Andreev in the round of 16, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. The Italian looks to reach his first semifinal since June, when he put together a title-winning run at Eastbourne.
(2) Florian Mayer vs. Albert Ramos
Second seed Florian Mayer recorded his 35th victory of the season on Thursday, having held on to oust Argentine Carlos Berlocq. The German survived a 0-6 second set to win in three, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. He will attempt to make his fourth semifinal in 2011.
World No. 87 Albert Ramos upended compatriot Pere Riba in the round of 16. The 23-year-old dropped the opening set, but rallied to secure the match in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5. He remains on track to book his first Tour-level semi this season.
