Tournament seeds Andreas Seppi and Albert Montanes will begin their campaigns in Bucharest, as they square off against respective opponents Alessandro Giannessi and Eric Prodon.

World No. 51 Andreas Seppi looks to break a string of three opening-round losses since early August. After making the final eight in Kitzbuhel, the Italian has crashed out early in Canada, Cincinnati and the US Open. He is bidding for his 18th victory of the season.
World No. 93 Eric Prodon returns to the ATP World Tour, following a first-round loss to Jurgen Melzer at the US Open. The 30-year-old Frenchman remains in search of his maiden Tour-level victory this season.
(8) Albert Montanes vs. (Q) Alessandro Giannessi
Former Bucharest champion Albert Montanes will attempt to secure his first Tour-level win since early August. The veteran Spaniard has compiled a 20-21 season record, aided by a runner-up finish in Kitzbuhel.
World No. 183 Alessandro Giannessi will be making his ATP World Tour main draw debut on Tuesday. The 21-year-old Italian passed through qualifying rounds, following unsuccessful attempts in Buenos Aires and New York.
