Top-seeded American Mardy Fish looks to make the US Open quarterfinal, as he squares off against fellow seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The players are set to meet for the first time Monday afternoon.
World No. 8 Mardy Fish came through a tricky third-round match, where he held on to defeat Kevin Anderson in three sets. The 29-year-old American tallied 41 winners and 12 aces, en route to a 6-4, 7-6(4), 7-6(3) victory.
Fish will attempt to make his second quarterfinal at the US Open, having reached the same stage in 2008.
Eleventh seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced to the round of 16, following his straight-set ousting of 19th seed Fernando Verdasco. The 26-year-old Frenchman remains on track to make his first quarterfinal at the tournament.
Prediction: Fish in five sets.

Tsonga is mentally a lot tougher now a year ago he would have lost this match but as he proved at wimbledon he can come back in to a match even when he is down a set or even more
