Andy Murray and John Isner will be bidding for fourth-round spots on Sunday at the U.S. Open. They are set for respective meetings with Feliciano Lopez and Alex Bogomolov.
(25) Feliciano Lopez vs. (4) Andy Murray
Lopez and Murray will be squaring off for the fifth time in their careers when they clash in the third round of the U.S. Open on Sunday night. Murray is sweeping the head-to-head series 4-0 and he most recently ousted Lopez in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon earlier this summer. The fourth-ranked Scot is heavily-favored to prevail once again, especially because he is coming off a title in Cincinnati. However, Murray had to come back from two sets down to beat Robin Haase on Friday.
In the midst of one of his more consistent seasons on tour, Lopez is up to No. 26 in the world. The Spaniard destroyed Tatsuma Ito in round one before surviving Vasek Pospisil in four tough sets on Friday. As past history suggests, this is not a good matchup for the underdog; Murray loves to use pace and pass any opponent who dares to venture into the next. The No. 4 seed should get the win in three relatively tight sets.
Alex Bogomolov vs. (28) John Isner
Two of the hottest Americans in tennis will be going head-to-head for the third time in their careers at the ATP level when they do battle in third-round action on Sunday afternoon. Isner won their two previous encounters in straight sets; 6-2, 7-6(4) earlier this season in Miami and 7-6(5), 6-4 two months ago in Newport. The world No. 22 also won a 2008 Challenger matchup in a third-set tiebreaker.
Bogomolov is a heavy underdog, but this one should at least be entertaining with both men in outstanding form. Isner owns a 14-4 record this summer, including titles in Newport and Winston-Salem. Bogomolov is enjoying a breakout season and he has surged to No. 44 in the world. He has taken advantage of a section of the draw vacated by Robin Soderling with wins over Steve Johnson and Rogerio Dutra Da Silva. Isner booked his spot in round three thanks to victories over Marcos Baghdatis and Robby Ginepri. Look for the No. 28 seed to prevail in three competitive sets.

yep, tbh that's what I was expecting from this one. hopefully r4 will be similar .. and if you'd have told me before the tourny that both delpo and sod would drop from the other half of muzz's 1/4 I'd have been quite happy;)

Is Murray wearing Rafa's cast off from last year's USO, he has also taken to squeezing a sachetinto his mouth before the toss up. What's next, lining up the water bottles?
