Roddick, Dolgopolov open bids on Tuesday Top seed Andy Roddick returns to hard-court competition, set to square off against lucky loser Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the second round. Third seed Alexandr Dolgopolov will also be in action, as he faces opponent Carlos Berlocq.

(1/WC) Andy Roddick vs. (LL) Edouard Roger-Vasselin

World No. 21 Andy Roddick looks to rebound after a disappointing effort in Cincinnati. The 28-year-old American was unable to win a match, having fallen to Philipp Kohlschreiber in the first round. Roddick is 21-10 for the season, aided by a hard-court title-winning run in Memphis.

World No. 107 Edouard Roger-Vasselin came through a challenging first round, where he held on to beat Lukas Rosol in three sets. He remains on course to win his seventh tour-level match this season.

    (3) Alexandr Dolgopolov vs. Carlos Berlocq

World No. 22 Alexandr Dolgopolov will attempt to break a 1-1 series tie with Carlos Berlocq on Tuesday. The players are meeting for the third time this season, with Tuesday’s match signaling their first hard-court encounter.

Dolgopolov returns to action following a first-round exit at the Western & Southern Open. The 22-year-old struggled in the opening round, where he fell to Richard Gasquet in straight sets. Dolgopolov is 27-20 entering into Winston-Salem.

World No. 75 Berlocq passed into the second round after opponent Andreas Haider-Maurer retired. The Argentine had built a 7-5, 4-1 lead when the Austrian called it a day. Berlocq is bidding for his 13th tour-level victory this season.

roger-vas is definitely not on course for another ATP match win. He'll be stuck at six cause Roddick is going to win this one.

I like your confidence, but unfortunately you just can't take anything for granted with Andy anymore the way you used to.
