Tournament seed Xavier Malisse will be in first-round action on Tuesday, as he squares off against Ernests Gulbis. The Belgian is joined by former World No. 5 Fernando Gonzalez, who faces 8th seed Igor Kunitsyn.

World No. 41 Xavier Malisse looks to regroup after a second-round exit to Ryan Harrison in Atlanta. The 31-year-old veteran is 20-17 for the season, entering into his 8th Farmers Classic. He posted his best showing in 2001, when he made the final four.
World No. 84 Ernests Gulbis will attempt to break a streak of four opening-round losses on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Latvian is bidding for his first win since May, when he reached the quarterfinals in Nice.
(8) Igor Kunitsyn vs. Fernando Gonzalez
Eighth seed Igor Kunitsyn trails first-round opponent Fernando Gonzalez 0-1 in the series, having lost their only previous meeting at the 2009 Masters 1000 Miami.
Kunitsyn is 9-12 for the year, looking to win his first Tour-level match since Wimbledon.
Former World No. 5 Gonzalez is set to return to Los Angeles for the first time since 2007. The 31-year-old Chilean has built a 3-2 mark during an abbreviated season, having suffered through hip surgery and knee problems.
