Feliciano Lopez will kick off his Gstaad campaign against Swiss wildcard Michael Lammer.
Feliciano Lopez (5) vs. Michael Lammer (WC)
Spain’s Feliciano Lopez is squeezing a bit more playing time in Europe before the men’s tour moves to the North American hard courts. The No. 5 seed will take on Swiss wildcard Michael Lammer, who is ranked 365 in the world.
Lammer has been successful on the Futures tour, but he hasn’t faced anyone near Lopez’s level all year. Lopez is a Wimbledon quarterfinalist and he’s currently ranked 24 in the world. Lopez should breeze through in straight sets.
Julien Benneteau vs. Lukas Rosol
The Czech Republic’s Lukas Rosol is ranked No. 66 in the world, well above Benneteau’s No. 111, though the Frenchman has far more match experience on the ATP Tour.
Rosol has climbed up the rankings largely on the strength of his activity on the Challenger circuit. The Czech man has played just 8 matches on the pro tour this year. Benneteau has a dismal 8-14 record on the Tour this season, with his best result coming on the grass courts of Eastbourne.
Prediction – Benneteau for the win.
