Former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero and countryman Pablo Andujar are set to headline an all-Spanish final at the Mercedes Cup. The compatriots are meeting for the second time on Sunday.
World No. 55 Pablo Andujar leads fellow Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero 1-0 in the series, having won their only previous meeting at the 2007 tournament in Barcelona.
Andujar reached his second clay-court final of the season on Saturday, when he held on to defeat wildcard Lukasz Kubot in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. The 25-year-old is bidding for title number two this year, after putting together a championship run in Casablanca.
Ferrero came through his semifinal clash with Argentine qualifier Federico Del Bonis in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The 31-year-old veteran is contesting his 34th ATP World Tour final on Sunday. He will attempt to win his first title since Umag 2010.
Prediction: Ferrero may not have enough match play this season, after struggling with various injuries. Should be a competitive match between the two- Andujar in three sets.
