Former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero looks to reach his 34th ATP World Tour final, as he faces first-time semifinalist Federico Del Bonis on Saturday. The winner will take on either Lukasz Kubot or Pablo Andujar for the title.
Juan Carlos Ferrero vs. (Q) Federico Del Bonis
World No. 85 Juan Carlos Ferrero advanced to the final four by virtue of his straight-set victory over Marcel Granollers Thursday afternoon. The 31-year-old veteran defeated his compatriot, 6-4, 6-3 in 88 minutes. Ferrer is bidding for his first Tour final since August 2010, when he won career title No. 15 in Umag.
World No. 240 Federico Del Bonis made his first ATP World Tour semifinal, following his 6-1, 6-2 win against fellow qualifier Pavol Cervenak. The 20-year-old Argentine captured early-round victories over Mischa Zverev and Sergiy Stakhovsky.
Pablo Andujar vs. (WC) Lukasz Kubot
World No. 55 Pablo Andujar trails wildcard Lukasz Kubot 0-1 in the series, having lost their only previous meeting at the 2009 Mercedes Cup.
Andujar moved into the semifinal after taking out hometown wildcard Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. The 25-year-old Spaniard looks to reach his second clay-court final this season, following a title-winning run in Casablanca.
World No. 69 Lukasz Kubot came through a challenging quarterfinal, where he held on to oust Santiago Giraldo in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3. The 29-year-old will attempt to make his first final since early 2010, when he finished runner-up to Juan Carlos Ferrero in Brazil.
