Russia's Mikhail Youzhny makes his 2011 Rotterdam debut on Wednesday against Spanish clay-courter Marcel Granollers.
Mikhail Youzhny is still ranked 10 in the world, but the Russian had a dismal showing at the Australian Open. He fell victim to young gun Milos Raonic in the third round in 4 sets.
The Russian should have an easier task getting past Marcel Granollers. The Spaniard is ranked 53 in the world and he has won exactly one match in 2011 so far, that in Auckland against American Bobby Reynolds.
Youzhny is a hard court specialist with a big forehand and a liking for quicker surfaces. Granollers prefers to play on clay and earns most of his ranking points on the red stuff.
This should not be a complicated match for Youzhny. His pace of shot will keep Granollers on his heels and the speed of the court will make retrieving difficult or the Spaniard. Youzhny in straight sets.
