Sydney - Gasquet, Garcia-Lopez highlight Tuesday play Fellow seeds Richard Gasquet and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez are set to begin their campaigns at the Medibank International, ready to take on respective opponents Matthew Ebden and Chris Guccione.

    (5) Richard Gasquet vs. (WC) Matthew Ebden

Fifth seed Richard Gasquet leads first-round opponent Matthew Ebden 1-0 in the series, after winning a round of 16 clash at the 2010 Brisbane International.

The World No. 29 will be looking to regroup after an early loss in Chennai, where he fell to veteran Bjorn Phau in the round of 16. The 24-year-old Frenchman has performed well in Sydney, having made the final four or better on three occasions. He reached the 2010 final, where he finished runner-up to Marcos Baghdatis.

Ebden returns to the ATP World Tour after making the quarterfinal in Brisbane (lost to Soderling). The 23-year-old Australian, ranked world No. 185, will make his Medibank International debut on Tuesday.

    Prediction: Gasquet in straight sets.

    (7) Guillermo Garcia-Lopez vs. (Q) Chris Guccione

Seventh seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez holds a 1-0 edge against qualifier Chris Guccione, having won their only meeting in New Haven in 2008.

Garcia-Lopez, ranked World No. 33, advanced to the Doha quarterfinal before falling to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets. The 27-year-old Spaniard is contesting his first Medibank International this week.

World No. 376 Guccione is bidding for his first victory of the 2011 season. The 25-year-old Australian, who reached the 2008 Sydney final, looks for his first tour-level win since the 2009 Masters Cincinnati.

    Prediction: Garcia-Lopez in straight sets.
