Top seed Robin Soderling looks to make his first Brisbane International semifinal as he faces qualifier Matthew Ebden on Friday. The Swede is joined in quarterfinal action by 7th seed Florian Mayer, who meets former champion Radek Stepanek.

World No. 5 Robin Soderling remains on track to score his third consecutive straight-set match-victory of the week, after taking out Michael Berrer of Germany in the round of 16. The 26-year-old passed through the 96-minute match unbroken, having made a second Brisbane International quarterfinal in two attempts. Soderling continues to serve well with 17 aces tallied through two completed matches.
World No. 196 Matthew Ebden looks to reach his first ATP World Tour semifinal on Friday. The 23-year-old Australian advanced to the final eight with a solid 6-4, 6-4 upset over 8th seed Denis Istomin.
Prediction: Soderling in straight sets.
(7) Florian Mayer vs. Radek Stepanek
Seventh seed Florian Mayer leads quarterfinal opponent Radek Stepanek 1-0 in the head-to-head series, after posting a 2004 victory in Estoril.
The 27-year-old German, ranked World No. 37, secured his first Brisbane International quarter by virtue of a three-set win over qualifier Ricardas Berankis. Mayer converted seven of 22 break chances to seal a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 success in two hours and 12 minutes.
Former champion Stepanek made the final eight after ousting 4th seed Mardy Fish on Wednesday, 6-3, 6-1. The 32-year-old Czech veteran will be looking to reach his third consecutive Brisbane International semifinal.
Prediction: Stepanek in three sets.
