World No. 2 Roger Federer will begin his quest for a fifth ATP World Tour Finals title, as he faces familiar opponent David Ferrer. The players are set to battle for the 11th time Sunday evening.
Second seed Roger Federer holds a 10-0 record against 7th seed David Ferrer heading into their match on Sunday. The Swiss earned his tenth series victory at the 2010 Masters 1000 Madrid, where he defeated the Spaniard in three sets.
Federer enters into his eighth ATP World Tour Finals with momentum, having secured two titles since late October. Following a runner-up finish in Shanghai, the 29-year-old won top honors in Stockholm and Basel.
The World No. 2 made the semifinal in London last year, but fell short to eventual champion Nikolay Davydenko, 2-6, 6-4, 5-7. He is four times a champion at the event, with title-winning runs sealed in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007.
World No. 7 David Ferrer has compiled a 60-21 mark in 2010. The Valencia champion will make his first appearance in London since 2007, when he finished second to Roger Federer.
Prediction: Federer can expect Ferrer to retrieve everything, but should move ahead in straight sets.
