Tenth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga captured his 23rd victory of the season on Tuesday, as he took out opening-round opponent Robert Kendrick in four sets. The Frenchman withstood 28 aces from the American qualifier to seal the win, 7-6(2), 7-6(8), 3-6, 6-4. The 25-year-old is bidding for his third consecutive berth in round three.
World No. 43 Alexandr Dolgopolov will be looking to record his 10th win of the year Thursday afternoon. The 21-year-old made a successful Wimbledon debut with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Swiss Marco Chiudinelli.
Prediction: Tsonga in four sets.
(18) Sam Querrey vs. (Q) Ivan Dodig
World No. 21 Sam Querrey secured his sixth consecutive grass-court victory Tuesday afternoon, following the retirement of first-round opponent Sergiy Stakhovsky. The Queen’s Club champion had struck 44 winners through two-and-a-half completed sets. The 22-year-old will attempt to book his second consecutive third round berth at Wimbledon.
World No. 193 Ivan Dodig pocketed his sixth ATP World Tour-level match on Tuesday, as he knocked out Oscar Hernandez in straight sets. The 25-year-old, competing in his Wimbledon main draw debut, converted five of 9 break points to seal the 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 win.
Prediction: Querrey for the win in straight sets.
