Melzer, Lopez look to Wimbledon third round Tournament seeds Jurgen Melzer and Feliciano Lopez are set to highlight play on Wednesday, as they square off against respective opponents Viktor Troicki and Ricardas Berankis. The players are vying for a place in round three.

    (16) Jurgen Melzer vs. Viktor Troicki

World No. 16 Jurgen Melzer holds a 2-0 edge against second-round opponent Viktor Troicki. The two last met earlier this season in Rotterdam, where a round of 32 match went to the Austrian by way of retirement. Wednesday signals their first clash on grass.

Melzer opened his 2010 Wimbledon campaign with a four-set victory over Dustin Brown. The 29-year-old has built a 27-14 record this season, helped by semifinal finishes in Zagreb, Dubai and Roland Garros. The Austrian advanced to the Wimbledon third round on three occasions since his 2000 debut.

World No. 42 Viktor Troicki began the event with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 success over Igor Kunitsyn. The 24-year-old Serb is 19-18 heading into the second round. Troicki reached the third round in 2009 before falling to World No. 4 Andy Murray.

    Prediction: Melzer in four sets.

    (22) Feliciano Lopez vs. (Q) Ricardas Berankis

World No. 30 Feliciano Lopez made a successful return to action after sustaining a shoulder injury in Eastbourne. The 28-year-old Spaniard commenced his 2010 Wimbledon bid with a four-set victory over American Jesse Levine. The Queen’s Club semifinalist, bidding for his 20th win of the season on Wednesday, has made the quarterfinal at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2005 and 2008.

World No. 156 Ricardas Berankis won his first match at Wimbledon after dismissing Carsten Ball in the opening round. The 20-year-old qualifier hit 54 winners en route to a victory in four sets, 6-2, 6-0, 3-6, 7-6(5). Berankis, who captured a recent grass-court title on the Challenger Tour, has built a 5-1, ATP World Tour-level record in 2010.

    Prediction: Lopez in four sets.
