After battling illness for the past few weeks, Andy Murray is back in action in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
World No. 4 Andy Murray has not played a tournament since the beginning of February. The Scot navigated through two rounds in Dubai before gifting a walk-over to Richard Gasquet of France in the quarterfinals. Murray first became ill at the Australian Open. He ran into an inspired Fernando Verdasco in the round of 16 in Melbourne, where he went down in five sets. Later, it was learned that the Scot was so sick he was advised not to board an airplane.
Murray has already beaten Albert Montanes this year. The Spaniard is ranked 35th in the world, but he is largely a clay-courter with a game that does not translate well to other surfaces. Montanes has even struggled on clay in 2009. Coming into Indian Wells, he had one just one match in eight tries. Even if Murray is not at 100% or even just rusty from lack of play, Montanes is not likely to get anywhere near taking the match.
Prediction – Murray in easy straight sets.
