After a stroll in the opening round, Murray will have a bit of a tougher test against the German Petzschner.
Murray kicked off his 2009 with an easy day at the office against the clay-courter Albert Montanes. Petzschner will definitely pose a bigger threat to the Scot in the second round.
The German has a nicely varied game, allowing him to change up the pace of the point with his impeccable slice. His serve is also pretty strong, and when he gets the first serve in, he will be looking to immediately take control of the point and work his way to the net. His volleys are great as well. If he brings it, Murray might be in a bit of trouble.
Murray will need to step it up a bit from his sleepwalk victory over Montanes. If the world No. 4 is lazy in this match, things could get interesting. Petzschner has firepower, but his consistency is still questionable. Murray will need to weather a possible early storm from Petzschner as the German will want to start out on fire. Murray will also need to return as well as he is capable of doing to counter Petzschner.
Murray should win this in the end, but watch out for Petzschner. He is an up-and-comer who could make some noise in the future, if not on Wednesday.
