After a strange week, the Spaniard Ferrero comes back to the tour and will square off with big Sam Querrey.
After not being offered a wild card into Madrid, to being offered it and then refusing, its been a bit tough for Ferrero. He comes into this tournament looking for anything positive to end his year on. He's had another mediocre year while Querrey has made some inroads.
The American won his first title this year back in February and had a nice fourth-round showing at the US Open. His booming serve is well-known, but his groundstrokes are steadily improving. His forehand is becoming lethal. Ferrero will need to step up and take it to the American if he wants a chance to win this. If the Spaniard sits back and waits, Querrey will overpower him. Ferrero needs to return the Querrey serve well to have a shot here.
For Querrey, all he must do is play his game and everything else will fall into place. With a serve as big as his and a forehand as well on this quick indoor surface? The quicker the points, the better for Querrey. This match will be all about who can impose their will more upon the other. Look for Querrey to come out on top in this one, but only just barely.
