On Monday afternoon, Kei Nishikori will make his Stockholm debut against Marcel Granollers of Spain.
Japanese star Kei Nishikori follows up a disappointing showing at his home tournament in Tokyo, where he lost early, with an appearance in Stockholm. Nishikori, ranked 84 in the world, shocked the tennis world earlier this year by winning the tournament in Delray Beach this spring. Despite his success, his opponent on Monday outranks him.
Marcel Granollers is ranked 57 in the world, but his results in the second half of the year have been dismal. The Spaniard has had a series of first and second round loses that dates back to the middle of July - including some losses at Challenger events.
Like most Spaniards, Granollers has his best results on clay courts. He will have a difficult time handling the pace from Nishikori, who is a good hard court player. Provided that Nishikori is not jet-lagged from his travel from Tokyo, he should win this match comfortably. Expect him to rob Granollers of time with his forehand and pull him out of position.

Did you know that... Thomas Johansson did not have to face any of the top-10 players when he won the Australian Open in 2002.
