Mathieu took out Davydenko last round win a good win while Kiefer is coming in here looking tired and spent.
Paul-Henri Mathieu has looked solid this week with his game. He is good fitness-wise and is returning well. His first serve percentage is a bit low, but when he gets it in, he is in total control.
Nicolas Kiefer, however, looked nearly dead yesterday. After playing a 3 hour+ singles marathon against Kevin Anderson in which he twice needed treatment for the heat and conditions, he went out and lost a 2 hour doubles match. He also complained of a left hip injury that could hamper his movement in this match against Mathieu.
With the way the Frenchman has been playing and the way Kiefer has been playing, things look like Mathieu should have an easy victory. However, Mathieu has a history of losing matches he should have won and choking from the impossible position. Not to say that this will happen here, but this match might not be as clear-cut as it looks and anything can happen, especially with these two players.
