Ferrer faces his first real challenge of the tournament. Seeds have been tumbling left right and centre but with quite a straightforward draw Ferrer is yet to drop a set
Ancic will be a completely different proposition to the likes of Jesse Huta-Galung and Massimo Dell'Acqua and the man Roger Federer described as one of the best returner's in world tennis at the end of last season, will need all those skills against one of the most ferocious deliveries in the business
Grass is Ancic's natural surface, the scene of most of his best career breakthroughs and he won this title in 2005 and 2006. He was in action at Queens last week, losing a close tussle with Gasquet 7-6, 6-4 in round 3
Despite appearances Ferrer is no slouch on the lawns either. He had a poor Wimbledon in 2007 but made the last 16 the year before - his accurate returning and hitting ability on the run generally prove successful.
The head-to-head between these two is 1-1 but they've never played on a fast court and a lot has happened since Ferrer won 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in the 2006 Aussie Open
The Dutch grass is faster than the courts in SW19, the serve-volleyers traditionally prosper, an example being Peter Wessels' run to the final last year. For this reason I make Ancic the favourite
Prediction: Ancic in 2
