    - Local fans are certainly used to savouring plenty of home success at this tournament, Spaniards have dominated this event over the past 6 years, winning 5 times ! There was an all-Spanish final back in 2004 when Fernando Verdasco took the title over Albert Montanes

    Ferrer holds a 3-0 record against Almagro winning comprehensively 6-1, 6-2 in the final of Bastaad (also a clay event) last June. However he’ll surely need to find his best tennis of the week to make it 4 wins, Almagro has yet to drop a set in the tournament and has conceded serve just 3 times, a good stat on clay. Strong serving has been the foundation of Almagro’s success this week, he’s fired 31 aces in his 4 matches and whether Ferrer can pick that serve will be one of the decisive factors in this match

    It’s a landmark for Ferrer - his 10th ATP final, his last was in October when he won Tokyo. Almagro’s looking to become the first player of the year to win 3 titles, having also triumphed in Brazil and Argentina earlier this year

    Almagro is a more flashy player than Robredo, Ferrer’s semi-final opponent - he likes to be more aggressive off his backhand, in particular with the down the line shot. He’s a confidence player and a good front-runner so Ferrer will not be able to get away with giving him a flying start as he did against Robredo earlier today.
