It is very likely that many if not a vast majority of people have never heard of any of these players. Well here they are, and the winner will play in the Houston final.
Wayne Odesnik has not played a single match on clay since a challenger last summer in Italy where he lost first round. He is much more comfortable on a hard court and has reached his career high ranking following his performance this week. Odesnik had a great win over a solid clay courter in Roitman in the previous round after being very close to losing.
Marcel Grannollers-Pujol has been playing incredible tennis this week and is the most accomplished clay courter left in the draw. He is the definition of a clay court specialist, complete with 3 Spanish names. He easily beat Marcos Daniel in the previous round with a very solid performance, Luczak had no chance in the 2nd round, and MGP destroyed Gulbis in the initial round. MGP has not lost a set all week, has rarely dropped serve, and hasn't lost more than 3 games in a set this week.
MGP is without a doubt the favorite in this match and should win, but stranger things have happened. Both players will be playing for their first ATP final.
