  • Memphis Quarterfinal Preview: Andy Roddick vs. Robin Söderling

    2/29/08 1:30 PM | Jonathan Morgan
     - A great matchup between two players playing very well in the past few weeks. A good match on tap here.

Roddick last week won the event in San Jose beating Stepanek in the final while Söderling made the finals in Rotterdam. Roddick in the previous round was able to defeat Fish for the 2nd time in as many weeks, this time without being broken. He hasn’t been broken in a few matches. He played very well in that match and has looked solid the past two weeks.

Söderling is coming back from missing the Australian Open recovering from an off-season injury. He came back and played well in Marseille taking out Nieminen and Gasquet. Last week he played in Rotterdam and made the final before falling to Llodra in a tightly contested final. Söderling has an incredible record on indoors and has numerous impressive scalps under roofs.

In this match, Söderling will try to impose his will by taking advantage of Roddick’s more spinny type game and passive play by moving in and taking his balls early. If Roddick can keep his shots deep and serve like a beast, he should take this one. Fatigue may also be an issue since Söderling has played a lot in the past 3 weeks and flew over an ocean as well. If Söderling can keep up his aggressive play he can win this. Tiebreaks may decide this one.

This should be the final. As you say, tiebreaks will decide. Do you know if it´s possible to watch this match if you are living outside US? Any live streaming?

Söderling in straight sets, not bad for someone who has been recovering from injury for six months!

Soderling in final now vs. STEVE DARCIS. I don\'t know what has been going on this week but the surprises on the ATP Tour have been out of control.
