Buenos Aires - In a repeat of last year's quarterfinal, Buenos Aires native Juan Ignacio Chela will take on the tough Spaniard Nicolas Almagro.
Almagro won last year's match easily 6-4, 6-3 but this is a new year and Almagro has played a lot of tennis in the past two weeks. He won the tournament in Costa Do Sauipe last week, beating Carlos Moya in a tight three set final. The Spaniard has also not had an easy road to the quarters. Martin Vassallo-Arguello pushed him to two tiebreaks in the opening round, and Oscar Hernandez took a set from him in round two. Fatigue may very well play a factor in the outcome.
Before this tournament, Chela had lost consecutive first round matches at the Australian Open and in Vina del Mar. Making the quarters will be a big boost for his confidence, and he will most certainly have the support of the hometown crowd behind him. Almagro has demonstrated the better form this year, but Chela is the fresher of the two. Chela in 3.
