Bernard Tomic has once again displayed his grass court prowess with a stunning upset victory over Richard Gasquet in 4 thrilling sets.
Bernard Tomic def. Richard Gasquet (9) 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5)
Australia's Bernard Tomic, who has been beset with off-court drama after his father was accused of assaulting his hitting partner, has found his rhythm on court in a big way. The youngster got his biggest win of the season over No. 9 seed Richard Gasquet in a tight 4-set match.
Gasquet won 13 more points in the match than Tomic, but it was the Aussie who walked away with the 4-set victory. Tomic, who has been known to be inconsistent at times, played the big points better than his opponent and showed impressive mental toughness in both tiebreakers. Tomic will take on Tomas Berdych in the fourth round.
Novak Djokovic (1) def. Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-2, 6-2
Novak Djokovic's third round lacked any of the drama of the Tomic win. The Serb, who has been ruthlessly efficient all week, did not spare Chardy any pain. The Frenchman was broken 5 times without earning a single break point of his own in the entire match.
Djokovic heads into what could be his most difficult match of the week against Germany's Tommy Haas, who beat the world No. 1 in Miami earlier this year.
