    Ferrer fights into second round World No. 4 David Ferrer advanced to the second round after holding off Argentina's Martin Alund in four sets. The veteran is through to take on compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the third round.

    Fourth seed David Ferrer is through to the second round following a four-sets victory over Argentina's Martin Alund. The 31-year-old Spaniard collected 7 aces and 31 winners en route to a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 success.

    Ferrer converted six of 12 break points through two hours and 9 minutes of play.

    He moves on to face fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the next round. Agut defeated Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili in the opening round, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3).
