    Tsonga, Cilic win openers Sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is through to the second round after defeating Belgium's David Goffin in straight sets. The Frenchman is joined by fellow seed Marin Cilic, who ousted former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis.

    Sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga made a successful start to the tournament, having upended young Belgian David Goffin in three sets. The 28-year-old Frenchman tallied 18 aces and 47 winners through 114 minutes of play.

    "I'm feeling good," Tsonga commented. "I played well today. I was really relaxed on the court, and it made me save energy and play good tennis."

    Tsonga completed the first-round match with three of 6 break points converted. He is scheduled to take on Latvia's Ernests Gulbis in the next round.

    (10) Marin Cilic def. Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 6-4, 6-4

    Tenth seed Marin Cilic is through to the second round after defeating former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis. The recent London finalist struck 16 aces and 41 winners through 93 minutes of competition. Cilic ended the match with four of 6 break points converted.

    He is slated to meet France's Kenny De Schepper for a place in the third round.
