Youzhny sends Kohlschreiber packing in Halle Russia's Mikhail Youzhny sent a third German packing, with 2011 champion Philipp Kohlschreiber ousted in straight sets.

Mikhail Youzhny posted a solid 6-3, 6-2 win over Philipp Kohlschreiber to earn a spot in Saturday's semifinal.

It was a bad day for the German contingent in Halle. There were 4 Germans in the quarterfinals; only Tommy Haas advanced to the semis. Along with Kohlschreiber, Florian Mayer and Mischa Zverev are out of the event.

This match marks the first time Mikhail Youzhny has secured a win over Kohlschreiber in a completed match. Their other meeting in Youzhny's win column came on a Kohlschreiber retirement.

Youzhny was in good form on Friday. The Russian was playing solid tennis from the baseline, and Kohlschreiber helped Youzhny along by playing off his back foot a bit. The German seemed a half step short during many of their rallies, giving Youzhny plenty of looks at shorter balls.

Youzhny will take on No. 2 seed Richard Gasquet in the semis.
