  • Tsonga keeps his pleasure simple during Paris progress

Tsonga keeps his pleasure simple during Paris progress A glass of sparkling water may have been the only treat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga allowed himself after upsetting Roger Federer to reach the semi-finals of the French Open.

After informally - perhaps jokingly -swearing off both chocolate and sex for the duration of his run at
Roland Garros, the big Frenchman needs something else to look forward to besides trying to become the first home play in thee decades to lift the trophy.

"It's the same as when you go on a diet," Tsonga said of his stricter regime and his time under new Aussie coach Roger Rasheed. "You can't live without any pleasure at all. So maybe tonight I'll indulge myself in having some sparkling water, some bubbles in my water.

"Of course, now and then I can just please myself with something I like."

Any distraction will do as he takes a step closer to possibly becoming the first home player to win the Roland Garros trophy since Yannick Noah in 1983. For that reason, Tsonga is sticking to his routine.

"I hope for me it's going to be easy, exactly the same thing as I did at the beginning of the tournament. Everybody's expecting a lot from me since the beginning of this tournament.

"Not only this tournament, but every day. So I'm used to it. I think it's going to be something simple for me. What is important is to stay focussed, to think about my next match, because the next match will be extremely tough against a player who didn't lose a single set (David Ferrer) and won with a very striking score in the quarter-final."
