Ferrer cruises into quarterfinal World No. 5 David Ferrer secured a spot in the French Open quarterfinal after recording a routine victory over South Africa's Kevin Anderson. The Spaniard is through to take on compatriot Tommy Robredo in the next round.

Fourth seed David Ferrer continued his run at the French Open, having ousted 23rd seed Kevin Anderson in straight sets. The 31-year-old veteran tallied 28 winners and 6 service breaks en route to a 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 victory.

"I'm very happy with my game today," Ferrer assessed. "Maybe I played the best match of this week. I am in the second week of the Grand Slam, and now I want to rest and to be focused on the next match."

Ferrer completed the round of 16 effort with 28 of 37 first-service points captured.

"For the time being I'm just thinking about the quarterfinals," Ferrer explained. "I go about it step by step. I don't want to dream too much. I am so very happy to have reached the quarterfinals. Of course, reaching the finals here would be okay, but I wouldn't say that I would not sleep at night thinking about it, or I would sleep better. So I will try and do my best. I will try and be as steady as possible and reach the semifinals."

Ferrer is slated to take on fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo for a place in the semifinal.
