Now that Toni has downed hometown Monfils he has to meet a felow spaniard. (Ferru and Feli also met today... I see some FR rigging here too)
I'm rooting for Robredo but Almagro is very solid right now - 19 aces and 45 winners is major words...

Since there's no Monfils-Robredo article I'll post it here. It's said to have been an awesome match. Monfils blew Tomy away in the first set and also won the 2nd, then had 4 match point in the third which Robredo saved.
Robredo ran Monfils ragged in the fourth and the latter couldn't even move in the 5th.
What a marathon!
Vamos Robredo!

I got to see the latter part of this match. That fifth set was something else. Robredo really stepped it up and was pounding his groundstrokes and taking everything Monfils threw at him. Monfils had to call the trainer to massage his legs as he was seemed to be gassed.

It was great to see Robredo coming up with some brilliant tennis to hang in there and come back from two sets down. His reaction at the end showed just how much it meant to him. This was a nice effort from Monfils who is on the road back. Hopefully he can build on this result and try to stay healthy and take care of his body.

Nico has been looking incredibly sharp since he started working with JCF, not dropping a set till the Barca final with Rafa and running about bageling people here.

I think Nico has the physical advantage, but Tommy has the mental edge.

Barring excess residual fatigue, it's going to be some match.

Should be some clay courting to see here!

Awesome performance from Tommy to outlast Monfils. Hope he will not be too gassed when he faces Nico and we get a good match between these two.
